“If you are fully vaccinated, you can now resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.”
With this brief statement the Centers for Disease Control ushered in a new phase in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, announcing that it is now deemed safe for fully vaccinated people to dispense with wearing masks in most cases.
At North Atlanta we have been studying this new CDC guidance through a Love First lens to imagine what that might mean for us and our weekly worship. We are excited about moving a step closer toward more togetherness, but we are also sensitive to the many concerns and perspectives of our church.
First of all, we will continue to offer an online worship option. If you have concerns about joining our on-campus worship, we encourage you to continue participating in the online worship option. Just go to lovefirst.org and select “Join Us” to participate.
If you plan to attend our on-campus worship (and we hope you will) here are the new safety protocols and options we are offering:
1. If you are feeling sick or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID, please stay home and join us online for worship.
2. We will continue to require registration for on campus worship attendance. Please go to the lovefirst.org and click on the “registration” button to register for worship and/or to register children for Children’s Worship, Nursery, or Bible Class. (This enables contact tracing if necessary. See link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/contact-tracing.html)
3. Masks will be optional for all outdoor activities and events.
4. Masks will be required for all worshipers (age three and older) while entering and exiting the auditorium. Additionally masks will be required for all worshipers (age three and older) when in hallways, restrooms, and all other indoor spaces within the building. This will ensure that we offer maximum protection for those who are not yet fully vaccinated and for those who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated, such as our children.
5. As you enter the auditorium you will have the option of choosing to sit in either “masks optional” or “masks required” sections. These two options will be provided both on the main floor and in the balcony and are clearly marked. Seating in the MASK OPTIONAL can now sit on every row in that section. MASKS REQUIRED in the auditorium will continue to leave every other row vacant to maintain physically distanced seating.
These guidelines apply to our Sunday morning activities. All ministries will create and follow their own safety protocols for other events while keeping in mind that we want to be together, but we also want to maintain a sensitivity to the particular concerns and needs of the participants for each ministry activity or event.
Thank You!
