ONE GIFT. ONE LOVE. ONE HEART.
The church in the first century faced the same major challenges as the church in the twenty-first century. War, famine, and economic hardship are all documented in history and in the Bible. Then, as now, it seemed there were always more needs than resources. But Jesus taught his disciples a new way to live. He first gave himself, and then he called them to follow in his steps. As a result, Luke could report in Acts 4, "All the believers were of one heart…they shared everything they had...and there was no needy person among them" (Acts 4:32-34).
Our annual One Heart giving initiative begins this Sunday and will last through the end of the year. This year, our goal is $250,000! Please CLICK HERE to see more information about the ministries that will be impacted by our giving. We will also spotlight many of these organizations during worship and in the Connection over the next several weeks. Please begin praying now about how God may be calling you to give so there is no needy person among us.
Please CLICK HERE and select “One Heart” to give.
ENCOUNTERS WITH THE KING
Some people born into royal families don’t want to be royalty at all. Others dream of being rulers without rivals, and such was King Herod. So, when the Wise Men told Herod they had come to worship “the one who has been born King of the Jews,” Herod tried to set up a deadly encounter of his own with this infant royal rival.
The Wise Men came to worship the King, while Herod wished him dead. These two Encounters with the King epitomize the gospel story. Some come to humbly receive Jesus, and others choose to reject him. But Jesus gives the right to become children of God and citizens of his Kingdom to all who receive him.
As we enter this holiday season and anticipate celebrating the birth of Jesus, we will focus our sermons and small group discussions on our Encounters with the King.
FENTANYL AND GEORGIA COMMUNITY CONVERSATION
Fentanyl is ravaging communities across Georgia. In its wake, fentanyl leaves complex and emotional issues of policy that must be addressed.
So, it’s time for Georgia to have a conversation with diverse voices to seek solutions to the fentanyl epidemic together.
Join the Georgia Council for Recovery and the North Atlanta Recovery Ministry on Monday, November 18th at 6 pm in Room 115 for a community conversation about the fentanyl epidemic.
Share your opinion, share your ideas, and ask questions! Every voice – including YOUR voice – is important!
